A joint venture building AI-driven insurance platforms - underwriting, broking, policy administration, claims, payments and regulatory reporting - across the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Kenya.
Bridgnorth, Shropshire · Part of the Industel Holdings Group
Industel is a software development company in Bridgnorth, Shropshire. We take systems from the first design through to the out of hours support service that keeps them alive - and we take responsibility for the whole span.
What we do
Most suppliers do one slice of this and hand you on for the rest. We would rather own the whole thing - because the seams between suppliers are where projects go wrong.
Custom systems taken from a blank page to a tested, documented, deployable product - by the people who will go on running it.

Every handover between suppliers is a place for context to leak out and accountability to go missing. We do not have any.
Why Industel
Anyone can deliver a project. The harder question is who is accountable for it once the launch party is over and the original team has moved on.
Architecture, design, build, test, host, run. No hand-off to a third party at the point where responsibility usually gets blurry - the people who designed it are the people who keep it up.
The group builds and operates real systems in insurance, occupancy monitoring, environmental sensing and retail. We answer the out of hours calls for our own software, which tends to concentrate the mind at design time.
Plenty of our work is long-lived line-of-business software. We optimise for the decade, not the demo: documented decisions, boring dependencies, and an upgrade path that exists.
Bridgnorth, Shropshire, with the wider group operating internationally. A phone number that a person answers, and engineers you can actually meet.
AI-assisted delivery
We build with the current generation of AI development tools - Claude among them. Not as a novelty, and not as a substitute for engineers: as a way to spend more of your budget on the decisions that determine whether a system works, and less on the mechanical parts of the job.
Boilerplate, scaffolding and the first draft of a test suite are now largely mechanical. That moves the hours you are paying for onto design, domain modelling and the awkward decisions. The practical effect is more system for the same money.
The cheapest code to maintain is the code that was never written. We use these tools as readily to delete and consolidate as to produce: a smaller codebase is quicker to change, cheaper to run and far easier to hand over.
Prototypes and spikes that used to take a fortnight take days. You make decisions against something you can actually use rather than a document, and you find out early when an idea does not survive contact with real data.
A person is still accountable. AI drafts; engineers decide. Every line is reviewed by the person who will be supporting it out of hours, and nothing ships that we could not explain to you line by line. How we work
The group
Industel is part of the Industel Holdings Group, with operations in the UK and in Melbourne, Australia. The group builds and runs its own products - which means the engineering practice behind our client work is the same one we hold our own systems to.

Know how your space is really used.
Privacy-first occupancy and environmental monitoring. Discreet hexagonal sensors count people and measure air quality on-device - counts are transmitted, never images.
Continuous environmental assurance.
Temperature and environmental monitoring with alerting and audit-ready records, for estates where a cold chain or a compliance log genuinely matters.
Point of sale, reimagined.
Retail point-of-sale and back-office software.
Where we are
We work from Underhill Street, down by the Severn in Bridgnorth - a Shropshire market town with a cliff railway and, as it happens, a rather good software company.
It is a deliberate choice. Away from the churn of the city markets we keep engineers for years rather than months, which is the whole reason we can promise you continuity.
Next step
A conversation costs nothing and usually clarifies the problem either way. We will tell you honestly whether we are the right people for it.
